Conveniently located ten minutes

from downtown Washington, D.C., Fort Lesley J. McNair is the Headquarters for the Military District of Washington (MDW) and home to several prestigious military universities, one of which is the National Defense University. The Fort McNair Officers’ Club is a fine example of the post’s history and charm, exuding a gracious ambiance reminiscent of the late eighteen hundreds when the club was constructed. The Club is one of the many plantation-style buildings nestled along the banks of the Potomac on Fort McNair. The Club’s fame and fine reputation have made it popular with presidents, members of the House and the Senate, as well as foreign diplomats. In 1998 and 2004 the Fort McNair Officers’ Club received the coveted Carroll Award, the Army’s highest award of club excellence. Members and guests are invited to enjoy the Club’s formal dining room where a buffet lunch is served Tuesday through Friday. Holiday brunches are also very special events. For catered events, the Club has the resplendent Crystal Ballroom, smaller formal rooms named in honor of Generals Lesley J. McNair and John J. Pershing, and two informal rooms for small meetings or parties. Membership is open to all active duty and retired U.S. and foreign military, Reservists, National Guard, DoD and Federal personnel with equivalent grades of GS7and above. Members have use of both the Fort McNair and Fort Myer Officers’ Club. Call (703) 696-5147 for membership information. The Club is a non-smoking MWR facility.

The Main Dining Room

As you enter the Fort McNair Officers’ Club, an elegantly furnished lobby featuring picturesque eighteenth-century murals of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, Boston Harbor, and scenic America welcome you. Just off the lobby is the main dining room. This charming room is filled with touches of home such as a marble fireplace, Georgian style chandeliers, Palladio windows, and cabinets filled with elegant china. A delicious buffet lunch is served Tuesday - Friday from 11 AM - 2 PM, reservations are only required for groups of 6 or more, and the dress code is casual. The Dining Room is also ideal for seated catered events for up to ninety people. Please call (202) 484-5800 for reservations.

The Crystal Ballroom

Elegant crystal chandeliers illuminate this spacious ballroom, lending to its name. The Crystal Ballroom is on the Club’s upper level, making it possible to gaze across the Potomac River from the full-length windows. This room is truly reminiscent of early architectural styles with its open foyer and elegant mantels which rise high above two large fireplaces at one end of the room. Whether planning a cocktail reception, luncheon or banquet, the Crystal Ballroom lends itself perfectly. The atmosphere is especially ideal for wedding receptions, embassy parties, command ceremonies, and anniversary celebrations.

The McNair Room          The Pershing Room

Named in honor of Generals Lesley J. McNair and John J. Pershing, these classic rooms feature Georgian style décor, elegant furnishings, and a historic motif. From the windows you can gaze across the Potomac or view the lovely surrounding grounds. The McNair and Pershing Rooms compliment each other with a mix of gilded mirrors, fireplaces, antique candelabrums, silk wall coverings, and chandeliers reflecting shades of blue and rose – truly ideal settings coupled with gracious and attentive service for formal dinners, luncheons, and small receptions.
